Wigan accent?

I can now confirm that I am not the most common person on this board.

Ruby sounds a bit more common than me, but is actually a bit posher, really. Going by upbringing.

I'm terribly posh dahrlings. I live in a private 200 acre country estate. I was raised in a caravan though. Does this make me common or just pikey?

My mum lives in a 8 bedroom vicarage in a tiny village in Dorset. I'm pretty fucking posh.

I don't need to metnion Kiwi's, I just talk to her about the cricket, or rugby union world cups.

It's true, I am far posher than the lot of you. And to piss off an Australian, tell them they sound saffa not Kiwi.

It is true I have a relatively broad accent. But I am actually dead posh. I never ate sugar butties.

What about dripping on bread? We were brought up to believe* we were posh which made it a bit of a blow (and very cringeworthy) when I realised we weren't, and that we had actually grown up in the least posh town in the whole of Europe. This realisation only happened about 4 years ago too.

*my mother told us about "some people" in other parts of town being rough, and served us vienetta and prawn curries. That was our yard stick for poshness.

My Mum told me that eating and smoking* in the street made you common. I thought I was dead posh, too because I had been taught not to do that.

*Not at the same time.

I think the line is drawn depending on whether you have tea (like a normal person) or dinner for your evening meal.

I went to Swindon once, for some greyhound race thing (I was NOT in the race), it was shit. Hove greyhound racing is much better, you can get chicken in a basket for your tea and everything.

We had supper for our evening meal :snooty:

But these days I think the best meals are served in baskets or buckets. Perhaps I've let my poshness slip.

I am not posh, but everybody else thinks I am. I come from the nice end of the Black Country, where they probably would think that Brighty's home town is posh.

If the former, then it's soooo hard to say, if the latter, then me, obviously. Newport trumps Merthyr every time.
